When you have suffered the traumatic death of a loved one, it can be very difficult for you to make the initial call to the SAMM helpline regardless of how long it is since you were bereaved. Perhaps you can ask a family member, a friend, or your family liaison officer to make the call on your behalf.

We will then contact you at your convenience. You may want support via our helpline into the national office, or we can refer you to a local contact if there is one in your area.  Perhaps you prefer a home visit by our specially trained volunteers or a staff member. Whichever service suits you, SAMM staff and volunteers will do their best to provide it for you You will talk to people who will care for you, and understand your grief.  All our SAMM volunteers are themselves bereaved as a result of homicide

You may be experiencing difficulties with regard to the authorities. SAMM staff are very well informed with regard to the agencies you may be dealing with, SAMM may be able to assist you with the problem and make contact on your behalf.

SAMM is an organisation run by victims to support victims

Here at SAMM we offer understanding and support to families and friends who have been bereaved as a result of murder or manslaughter, through the mutual support of others who have suffered a similar tragedy.

We work in partnership with the The Office of Criminal Justice Reform, Victim Support and law enforcement agencies offering training and support on the effects of murder and manslaughter on families and friends.

SAMM receives an Office of Criminal Justice Reform grant.  This funding enables SAMM to continue to carry out its aims and objectives, which are as follows:

• To offer direct support to those bereaved through homicide.
• To raise public awareness about the effects of murder and manslaughter on families and friends.
• To take up the issues of concern arising out of the effects of murder and manslaughter.
• To promote and support research into the effects of murder and manslaughter on society.

This year we see the relaunch of our new website which will raise public awareness about the work we carry out at SAMM.
Our website is packed full of information about SAMM, our services, our support, our training, fundraising, the involvement of the Office of Criminal Justice Reform, and important links to other support agencies and services
